Easter Fun … and Eggs — by Angel

EasterEggHunt_LayherHappy Easter friends! Easter is one of those holidays that make me laugh. We always have to check the calendar since the date is not set (trivia moment: it changes based on the moon). Then the next question is always, what will the weather be? I have experienced snowy Easters, rainy (the most common), crazy hot Easters and really nice weather Easters.

As a mom of two teens, I have experienced many egg hunts over the years at many different venues. I was never the mom who would stand in an hour-long line to make my kids sit on the Easter Bunny’s lap for pictures. We did, however, go to egg hunts everywhere!

Now that I work the behind the scenes of egg hunts, I am amazed at the work that goes into them. From the filling of the candy, to marking the fields, to getting prizes, marking the prizes, dividing them and putting prize tickets in eggs. Then, of course, there is the hunt day; making sure everyone is in place before you say go, then being a smile to the child who is upset for not getting the biggest prize and celebrating with the child who gets a prize. It is fun and crazy and chaos and organized.

Looking back at all the egg hunts I attended, I am so thankful for the people who took the time to make the experience amazing for my kids!

So, this Saturday, April 4, is the Easter Egg hunt at Journey Church. At 4pm the GO will be given and the little ones will be off to find the perfect egg. The one they are hopeful will hold a prize ticket.

If you plan on attending this amazing event, I encourage you to thank a volunteer for their time to your kiddos. This is so much more than an egg hunt. These volunteers have prayed about all the families that will attend, the families that are regular Journey attenders and the visitors.

The egg hunt is of course a way to have fun but our Outreach Team uses it for so much more. This is just one more way to extend a greeting to a new friend, to hug someone hurting or lonely, to welcome someone looking for their purpose a church to call home. The egg hunt is another way for us to say Welcome to Journey!

Hope to see you here Saturday 4pm and then stick around for the amazing service experience at 5pm. I promise you will not want to miss this!
