There is an old saying that says “Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent about how you react to it.” I have a mug on my desk that states “Attitude is Everything.” And Nike is still known around the world for “Just Do It.” Everywhere you look around our culture, we are constantly being encouraged to face life’s challenges and react to them, well, positively. But in the midst of chaos and crisis and pain, how in the heck do you do that?
My daughter, Aly, and I recently completed a challenge of a different kind. She ran across a 90-Day Bible Challenge on Twitter, and we decided to strap it on together. Stick with me here … there is a point coming. We read through the Bible in three months, and it’s an accomplishment that I could not have done alone. We held each other accountable to read massive amounts every day, and God reminded me regularly to stick with it. Without those two hedges in my life, I could not have done it.
I’m sure there are lots of similar stories out there, in and around your life. Things you never thought you could accomplish or do or say or put up with in the face of big odds. Here’s the point — YOU ARE NOT ALONE! People all around your life love you and are there to support whatever “challenge” you are going through. And God is there, by your side, every step of the way.
You can do it. And we are there to help.
