What up Journey?!
This is my first blog ever so please bear with me. I want to start by saying just how grateful I am to have an opportunity to meet ALL of you. You have been beyond kind to my wife and I. I look forward to learning more about and getting to know all of you.
Do you ever feel as though you are drowning in life? Like your prize, your goal, your miracle is just out of reach. Like, you just have to get a little farther and you will make it, just push a little harder and you will find it. Then all of the sudden you run out of breath. In this instant what do you do? When your back is against the wall. When you are stretching forward with everything you have and all of the sudden you hit that block, that wall, that adversity. How do you react? Will you turn back? Will you give up? Will you push on deeper?
Many times when we are pushing toward something or wishing for a miracle we are already tied up in adversity. Otherwise, we would not be pushing or wishing it would just be. To trudge through a swamp of adversity only to turn from your prize when it is in reach sounds a bit…well dumb. I have found myself in this situation and it is not such a bad solution when you’re in the middle of the onslaught of attacks. But, just because you turn back doesn’t mean the enemy is going to stop attacking. We fail to realize he is not a play fair type of opponent. We give him too much credit for being understanding. If you are down on one knee crawling away this dude will stab you in the back as soon as he has a chance. HE WILL NOT BACK DOWN JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE DOWN OR TRYING TO RETREAT!
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
As the juggernaut that is the adversity in your life drags you down. The thought of giving in or giving up on your dream no doubt will cross your mind. The deceiver will cloud your mind. He will make you think there is no alternative, but to lie down. To settle is to lose! We are guaranteed victory! We do not settle! We do not give in! We do not allow him to dictate where our lives go!
7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.
No matter how much pressure, no matter how many times we fall, no matter how far the goal seems to be PRESS IN DEEPER! Make this a lifestyle. When your goal or your dream comes to this point of realization or cancelation YOU MUST DIG DEEPER! The deeper we plunge into God’s word, the deeper we sink into prayer, and the more trust that we put into His purpose in our lives the longer we can hold our breath in adversities flood. If we can teach ourselves to push through the pain we can change the outcome of so many of our ventures.
let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
I love the picture at the top because it shows not only us straining for our treasure, but the ADVOCATE by our side. He is our guide in this world to reach the treasures God has for us. Too many of our dreams drown because of the lack of guidance. We need to make a lifestyle of allowing THE ADVOCATE, that Christ sent us, to guide us. He will light your path. He will be that second wind of breath you need to reach your prize, your goal, and your miracle.
7 But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.
