I am personally blown away at how quickly this summer breezed by. It literally seems like it was last week, when my kids ran off the bus, throwing their back packs up in the air, shouting ‘School is OUT! School is OUT!’ That was over 3 months ago! How did 3 months feel like 3 days? Nonetheless, the summer months are moving behind us as we look to the fall that is before us.
Tomorrow, for our family (and most every Lincoln County family) marks the beginning of another school year (and for our St. Charles County families, it’s already happening!). By now, most of us have already walked the aisles of Wal-Mart to stock up on the needed school supplies for the year, swiped our credit cards to buy them new clothes and shoes because they’ve completely destroyed the ones they had over the summer, and have printed out their class schedules to see what they will be learning over the next 9 months.
We know a lot of preparation goes into readying our kids for the school year…that’s why I just wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that Missy and I are praying for God to do GREAT THINGS through all of the students that attend Journey Church that are heading to school (public school, private school, or home school)!
We know from experience how powerful prayer is for our family and we couldn’t think to walk into this school year without praying over the entirety of the year right here at the starting block, for our kids, and for yours.
Matthew 7:7 ”Ask, and it will be given to you seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Man…I absolutely LOVE that scripture! So, here is my prayer:
God, we ‘ask’ for all of our students to experience the most POWERFUL year of their lives as they venture into their school hallways this year. We vow to continue to ‘seek’ after you for their well-being throughout the entire year, and Lord, we’re so thankful that we can ‘knock’ on the door of your heart to give you a request like this, and know that you answer…every single time. We thank YOU for a GREAT school year! In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
